At roughly 10:00 AM Pacific on Monday, September 14, 2026, Apple pushed iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 to every compatible device on earth. MacRumors’ Juli Clover timestamped the launch post at 10:04 AM PDT. The headline feature isn’t the redesign previewed at WWDC on June 8; it’s Siri AI, a rebuilt assistant that answers local and product queries itself instead of handing you a list of blue links.
That’s the change small business owners should be reading closely.
“It’s personal intelligence that’s actually personal,” said John Ternus, in his first product event as Apple CEO after succeeding Tim Cook on September 1. “iPhone sits at the center of an amazing ecosystem of intelligent features and experiences that work seamlessly across the products you use every day.” Per CNBC, Siri now uses large language models to search through a user’s local personal data, including texts, emails, and calendar appointments, and can also answer general questions and search the web.
The install base isn’t theoretical. iOS 27 runs on every iPhone back to the iPhone 11 and the second-generation iPhone SE, and iPadOS 27 covers 5 iPad families going back years, including the second-generation iPad Pro, fourth-generation iPad Air, sixth-generation iPad mini, iPad (A16), and iPad mini (A17 Pro). Siri AI itself is gated to Apple Intelligence hardware, starting with the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max and running through the iPhone 16, 17, and 18 lines. English only for now; French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish arrive with iOS 27.1 next month.
Here’s the structural shift. When a customer asks their phone for a yoga studio nearby or the best coffee shop open now, Siri answers. Complicated queries route to Private Cloud Compute, which CNBC reports runs on Google Cloud with Nvidia and Intel silicon, with Gemini reportedly helping Apple train its own models. Apple notes Siri’s daily limits “may vary by feature, request complexity, system demand, system policies, and other factors.”
If your Apple Maps listing is wrong, your NAP data inconsistent, or your site unparseable, you’re not ranking lower. You’re not in the answer.
