On October 28, 2026, Meta will insert its own product-browsing experience between the ad tap and the merchant’s website for every running Facebook and Instagram ad. The in-product notice went out around October 14 and reads, “Starting October 28, 2026, we’ll add product browsing to your existing ads.” Ecommerce advertisers have roughly eleven days from today to decide whether to opt out before Meta flips the switch.

There’s no accompanying Help Center article, changelog, or newsroom post. Ads Uploader independently confirmed the silence on October 15. The notice itself explains that “When people tap your ad, they may see an experience on Facebook or Instagram with product info and personalized suggestions.” Translation: an interstitial product page, rendered by Meta, sits between the creative and the brand’s own site.

Meta’s justification is a 16-day summer test, from August 6 to August 21, 2026, spanning “3+ verticals (incl. E-commerce, CPG, Retail)” and roughly 117,700 advertisers. The company says “the Product Browsing outperformed with >99% confidence,” claiming 3% more conversions on average. The 68 days between the end of that experiment and the switch-on date is the entire window advertisers got to understand what’s changing. The global rollout lands 30 days before Black Friday on November 27, with Cyber Monday on November 30.

David Herrmann, president of Herrmann Digital and part-time senior consultant at Northbeam, called the move “downright diabolical” on LinkedIn, where his post gathered 195 reactions, 35 comments, and 9 reposts in its first day. His operational warning: “the copy will stay the licensor but unless you 100% have the product set for that licensor already set, the system will just do what it wants.” Dave Rossborough, a self-described 27-year digital advertising veteran, piled on in the replies.

This is the third major default-on change in a month for a suite PPC Land pegged at above $75 billion in annual run-rate in August. The September 1 to October 20, 2025 rollout of Dynamic Media as the Advantage+ catalog ads default established the pattern. The notification, not the newsroom, is now the policy channel.
