Meta reported $64.60 billion in Q3 2026 revenue on October 21, up 26% year over year, and used the call to put specific numbers behind an AI ad pitch that had, until recently, lived mostly in keynote slides.
Family of Apps ad revenue hit $63.1 billion, up 26%, with “other” revenue adding another $1.1 billion at 59% growth, for $64.2 billion in total Family of Apps revenue. Average price per ad rose 14%; impressions grew 10%. The composition matters: Meta is charging advertisers more and they’re paying it, because the machine routing those ads got measurably better during the quarter.
The GEM ad-ranking model, expanded to additional surfaces in Q3, drove a 9.6% increase in app ad conversions and a 1.7% lift on offsite conversion campaigns. Meta Generative Recommender, launched this quarter as a generative retrieval architecture on Facebook Feed, delivered nearly 2% conversion lift across targeted segments. Simply Organic Maple, a family-run Vermont syrup producer that used Meta AI Business Assistant to improve its campaign messaging, hit 3x return on ad spend on its strongest revised creative, a 52% improvement over the original.
Nearly 10 million advertisers used at least one generative AI ad creative tool in the quarter. Video generation adoption rose 25% quarter over quarter. Partnership ads crossed a $15 billion annual run rate, up more than 97%.
The quarter also carried a $9.89 billion charge from Meta’s August agreement with 52 state attorneys general over teen mental health litigation, part of a settlement worth up to roughly $18.59 billion. GAAP diluted EPS came in at $3.83, or $7.40 excluding the charge. Operating margin was 20%, which CFO Susan Li said would’ve been 35% without the legal line. Headcount fell to 66,775, down 15% year over year after roughly 8,000 summer job cuts, about 10% of staff.
Capital expenditures reached $34.9 billion, free cash flow turned negative at $2.1 billion, and full-year capex guidance narrowed to $135–145 billion from $130–145 billion. Full-year expense guidance rose to $175–179 billion. Q4 revenue guidance of $73–76 billion, midpoint $74.5 billion, sits above LSEG consensus of $73.73 billion, absorbing an approximately 1% currency headwind. DAP hit 3.64 billion, up 3%, just under StreetAccount’s 3.65 billion.
The 2008 financial crisis produced a vocabulary of “too big to fail.” Meta’s quarter produced a quieter version: too embedded to opt out of.
