Apple will debut HomeView, a Siri-controlled smart display for the kitchen and living room, at a 9 a.m. Eastern “Welcome home” event on Tuesday, October 13, with devices shipping in mid-November, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. The quieter story, the one that matters for anyone selling to households, is that a new ambient-discovery surface is about to go live in American homes with no App Store and no browser between a Siri answer and a purchase.
Gurman reports two versions: a tabletop model with a metal speaker base in Gray, Silver, Starlight, and Rose (Engadget calls the last color Pink), and a wall-mounted square plate in Gray and Silver. Both run Apple’s A18 chip. A refreshed HomePod mini using the Apple Watch Series 10’s S10 chip and a new A19-powered Apple TV 4K ship October 30. An “Apple Home Collection” of accessories built with LG and Schneider Electric, including a doorbell, deadbolt, thermostat, temperature sensor, indoor and outdoor cameras, and a floodlight camera, rounds out the launch, though LG’s pieces aren’t expected until later this year at the earliest.
The naming choice is the tell. Gurman says the “View” portion is meant to signal that the device is controlled primarily through Siri, not touched like a tablet. HomeView is a voice-first surface riding on the Siri stack that shipped inside iOS 27 last month. Which means local-business lookups, recipe picks, product recommendations, booking suggestions, and the quiet verbs of household life get resolved by one assistant’s answer, not a page of blue links.
For consumer-facing small brands, that’s a different distribution physics than social feeds or paid search. If Siri doesn’t surface you when someone in the kitchen asks for a plumber, a pizza, or a pediatric dentist, you aren’t losing a click. You’re invisible.
Apple has been here before. The home push Gurman and others traced back to a late-2024 original ship window finally lands next month, after a long delay. Hardware shipped is the easy part. The harder question for small operators is the one already playing out on other assistant surfaces, from ChatGPT’s new small-business discovery behavior to Gemini placing calls on a customer’s behalf: what, exactly, makes an AI pick you?
SVP Greg Joswiak will presumably frame Tuesday’s reveal as a home story. It’s also a discovery story. The storefront moved again.
