The hardware is priced to match the moment. TrendForce, cited by MacRumors, puts the iPhone 18 Pro at $1,249–$1,299 and the Pro Max at $1,349–$1,399, a $150–$200 jump (roughly 10–20%) over last year’s $1,099 and $1,199 starts. The story TrendForce tells about that jump is a memory story: the price of a 256GB memory chip has climbed nearly 400% year-on-year, and the bill of materials on a 256GB Pro is up about 38%.

That’s the keynote copy. The operational story for B2C owners is quieter and more urgent.

iOS 27 ships alongside the phones, with Visual Intelligence relocated into the Camera app as a new Siri mode (per Apple’s June 8 announcement summarized on Wikipedia). Point a phone at a storefront, a menu, or a product, and Siri identifies it, pulls calendar events, drafts contacts from a business card, generates an Apple Wallet pass through “Create a Pass,” and reads nutrition labels or splits a receipt. Apple Maps Flyover has been upgraded with aerial imagery and vision models, which means storefront exteriors are now indexable material. The new generative Siri also reads on-screen content and cross-references Messages and Calendar for personal context. It won’t launch in the EU or China while Apple works through regulators.

The support floor is the Apple A13 Bionic, meaning every iPhone 11 and second-gen SE forward. That’s a very large installed base updating in one week.

MacRumors expects iOS 27 as soon as September 14, with preorders Saturday September 12 at 5:00 a.m. Pacific (the traditional Friday cadence displaced because September 11 lands on Friday) and retail on September 18.
