TikTok used the first morning of Advertising Week New York to collapse the entire acquisition funnel into a single app, announcing Buy Direct, a conversational Shopping Assistant, an Agentic Leads agent, and the US launch of the TikTok Ad Network before the coffee lines had cleared.

Buy Direct turns the For You feed into a one-click checkout, with the purchase completed in-app rather than kicked out to a browser. The Shopping Assistant handles sizing, availability, and shipping questions conversationally, then closes the sale inside the chat. Both were built with Salesforce, Shopify, Shoplazza, and Stripe, and both work across the app rather than only inside TikTok Shop, according to The Next Web. Adweek’s Mitchell Parton reports the two features are beginning to roll out to US users and brands, with no firm launch date disclosed.

Agentic Leads, meanwhile, is the service-business counterpart: an AI agent that runs qualification conversations in TikTok DMs and through lead forms on advertisers’ own sites. Marketing Dive’s Peter Adams frames it as a tool to help marketers capture and convert high-intent prospects, which is exactly the objection-handling work a five-to-thirty-person team never has the headcount to do manually.

The TikTok Ad Network, formerly Pangle, now opens to US advertisers for the first time, offering reach across nearly 400,000 “premium” apps worldwide with Integral Ad Science providing independent measurement. It sits inside the existing Ads Manager, which means a brand that already runs TikTok campaigns can extend off-platform without touching a separate DSP.

The skepticism is real. Digiday’s reporting from the show finds media buyers unconvinced that off-platform inventory will outperform Meta’s or Google’s audience networks until TikTok proves incremental reach. That’s a fair test, and it’ll take a quarter of data to answer.

What’s not in dispute is the direction. This is the same compression story driving social media’s new role as the top small-business discovery channel and YouTube’s commission-only creator sales channel: the platforms that own attention are absorbing the layers that used to sit between attention and revenue. Small brands that want in should get the shop, catalog, and pixel configured before the holiday window closes. Eligibility is gated, and the queue won’t shrink.
