At its Brand Building Summit on October 15, Meta introduced Ads Super Burst, a reservation product that lets a single advertiser book a 3-to-24-hour window across Facebook and Instagram with guaranteed delivery and, optionally, category exclusivity for the duration. It moves to general availability this month through a phased rollout, bookable via Meta Reach Planner.
The structural shift matters more than the format. Reservation-and-exclusivity buying on Meta’s feeds was effectively an agency-tier instrument, built around upfronts and relationships. Opening Burst inside Reach Planner collapses that distance. A five-to-thirty-person brand can now, in principle, hold the category slot on a launch day the way a holding-company client would, assuming the pricing floor allows it. Meta hasn’t disclosed minimums, which is the entire question.
Meta’s own test-flight numbers claim a median 2.9-point lift in ad recall, a 0.6-point lift in intent, and median reach of 34 million people per flight. PPC.Land notes the underlying research is unpublished, which is worth holding in mind. The named endorsement comes from Kathryn Quart, VP planning at Spark Foundry, who said a “12-hour activation was seamless to execute, delivered strong reach among our target audience, and performed exactly as expected” and recommended using it again in the holiday window. An agency planner recommending more Q4 spend isn’t a surprise; the specificity of the 12-hour cadence is.
Treat Burst as a launch instrument, not a prospecting one. The right occasions are product drops, BFCM peaks, timed collaborations, flash sales, moments where guaranteed delivery and competitor blocking justify giving up auction efficiency. For everything else, the auction still wins.
Two companion products landed alongside. First Impression Ads, in US testing, hands one advertiser per day the first ad slot in Facebook Feed. Reels Trending Ads now spans 15 always-on topics, “including new categories around Home & Garden and Spanish language content.”
Read against Meta’s agentic Ads Manager and the new Facebook feed controls users now hold, the direction is coherent: as the auction gets more automated and the organic feed gets more user-shaped, Meta is quietly reintroducing the oldest ad product there’s, the bought day.
